Globe Theatre

When I was in high school, I had to make a model of the Globe Theatre. Actually, I made it twice because there was a small accident with while the first version was drying in the garage. On my first trip out to London, I went to see the modern remake of the Globe right away. Once Lenny moved there I tried to see a production but the tickets sell out quickly. Finally, I made it happen!
Lenny and I went to the Globe to see a production of Romeo and Juliet. We had standing tickets (just like the original groundlings). It was really fun to do... once. The show was about 4 hours long, but it was really fun to be that close up to the actors. I also thought it was a kick to hear Shakespeare done with authentic British accents.
We will try to go to another show again... but next time I'll make sure we have seats. :)

July 4th

The fourth of July is one of Lenny's favorite holidays.... other than Bay to Breakers. :) Last year we were still in San Francisco for the 4th and were able to watch some fireworks through the fog and rain. This year we had a wonderful day celebrating our country's independence by resting in a park.... staring at the British Parliament Building!! How ironic is that?!

This Saturday we had some rain around 11, but by 1 it was another beautiful day. We got Chula, popped on the train to Waterloo and walked around the Thames waterfront. There were so many tourists packed around that we headed across the river and hid in a little park... by Parliament! I couldn't resist appreciating the beautiful blue sky with wispy white clouds floating by.

In addition to Independence Day.... it was also Gay Pride. We stopped by Trafalgar Square to see some of the amazing costumes and the main stage. After the festival, we stumbled upon a little cafe tucked into Embankment Park. We had dinner at an outdoor table under a canopy of trees. I felt like we were in a movie! What a day! Maybe not a typical Independence Day.... but fun none the less.
